Dreamshell

Post by GameMasterGuy »

Skip to about 4:00. I just heard about this, has anyone tried it yet? Is it any good? Is it safe to install? Any other info on it? Is it the first of its kind, or have there already been operating systems you can run on your DC? The official page for it is in Russian, which I'm not exactly fluent in (in other words I don't know a single word of it :p).

It will haxor your bank accounts from your DC. DON'T ENTER YOUR PASSWORDS!

Yes it is fine. I have one of the SD readers and it works fine within the speed limitations of the serial port's transfer to and from the SD card.

Once I install it, is there any way to go back? I'm not the type that likes tampering with his consoles- hell, I even chose to saw off the back of a Game Genie instead of removing a bit of plastic from my SNES so that I could import games.

It is just a program that runs each time. It doesn't change anything on the DC. Or at least that's how I've used it. Just booted Dreamshell to then run things off the SD adapter.

Ive heard its kind of buggy and only a few games actually work. At least last time i checked on it. Plus with the cost of Cd-R's at 15 cents a piece these days.

It is a good item, and the shell doesn't do anything to your Dreamcast. The only downside is not all ISO files are able to be played this way yet. But it will save your laser!

But the Dreamshell can load GDIs which are a lot easier to find, right?
My scheduling skills have died of dysentery; I hope to visit at least on a monthly basis.
Still, don't forget to tip your waitress.

Hmmm possibly although i never really looked for GDI dumps. I suppose Kdub has a point on saving your DC cd-rom drive/laser.

I think originally it was some entity in China. Here http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=7818275499 You can get it on Flea-Bay though. Im guessing someone must of bought stock realizing it was gaining popularity.
