So...another exhausting ebay situation is on my hands.
As some of you may have seen, I placed a bid on this auction, being hasty and not reading the description thoroughly, I did not realize it was the Japanese version. (on the 7th) I apologized to the seller and asked them to please cancel my bid (because at the time I was not aware how to do this myself), never heard anything back. Won the auction at like $2 with $2 shipping. I'm not complaining about the price, or the fact that it's a Japanese version, nor am I in any way claiming that I myself did not make a mistake that was totally avoidable. But when the auction ended I said to the seller "I'm a little frustrated that I did not get a reply to my previous message. I would like to at least hear back from you before I pay for this item. I hope that is understandable."
Then they replied for the first time with "I didnt get the message in time as you just sent it today, the auction clearly states "This is the japanese version to please be sure your dreamcast can play it." I don't know if it would play in your dreamcast. Most need to be modded or have a boot disc."
I replied with a copy of my first message including the date and time and all that. I am not trying to be difficult, I am just kind of annoyed that the one point they try to make is not exactly the best one because I feel they could have stated it more clearly, like, I don't know...in the title of the posting? Maybe even IN ALL CAPS near the other stuff that's IN ALL CAPS? Idk, what do you think?

Again, I know I made a mistake. If the guy doesn't want to accept my apology give it to the other person who placed a bid then that's fine, I'll pay for it. But this is just annoying.

You fucked up and you know it, so that's good. Asking the seller to cancel the auction is fine, but you need to understand that it's totally OK for him to insist that you pay. You shouldn't get angry at him or leave bad feedback for it either, because you are the one who caused this problem. The seller did nothing wrong.harper wrote:I know this is freakin long. You are actually inconveniencing him by asking him to cancel. If he agrees to cancel it for you, you should offer to make it up to him by paying any re-listing fees or whatever. It's not fair for him to lose money because you fucked up. If he is nice enough to cancel, you should return the favor and be nice enough to make sure that he doesn't get punished (via Ebay fees and whatnot) for doing so.

My plan was to either pay for it or hope he'll ask the other bidder if they want it. But thank you for making me realize my other options. You're such a great help. Yeah, just kinda sucks. You made a mistake, but you start to wonder if they're really that lax on paying attention to their auctions and will it be like their shipping, or did they 'conveniently not see' your message until it was too late. Ah well, at least it was a simple mistake and you have a low cost outlet to sell it here.harper wrote: Again, I know I made a mistake. I've had a few things where I asked a question about an item and the seller waited until after it ended to reply. I took it as a sign that whatever I was asking was purposely not disclosed and they were hoping I would bite anyway before the clock ran out. Figured I'd just stay away.

Yeah that thought crossed my mind as well. hahaHobie-wan wrote:...or did they 'conveniently not see' your message until it was too late.

Oh yeah, and I actually did a buy it now on one of their items a couple of days ago. They haven't said anything about whether or not they have shipped it yet which kind of leads me to believe that maybe they expected me to win this auction and they waited so they could send it all together. Or is that me just being paranoid? haha I mean it seems like more often than not, the sellers don't bother to provide any shipping information, let alone tell you whether or not they have shipped yet. But it just seems kinda fishy in this situation.
