also, noise, how did you "find" one-ups in those first two areas? AFAIK there are no 1-ups to find, only to earn through scoring...

And the game doesn't give you points for switching weapons - in fact it gives them to you for NOT switching...

I wonder if you do have some kind of hacked ROM.

Ok, I tried a different Gen ROM. It was even labeled a little differently as Truxton (JU) [!] and was a bin file rather than a smd file. My score?

3,189,780

Is anybody else emulating the Gen version? Maybe someone could try to see if the ROM(s) I've found are somehow different than the cart?

One thing I notice is that I seem to get a fair share of 1up's. Does that sound weird?

Is your emulator running really slow? I remember during one of the shmups.com runs there was a guy who's PC wasn't up to the task and he was getting awesome scores because the game was running at about half speed on his PC. Is there a FPS/speed deal you can turn on or watch a youtube video of gameplay to see if it looks like yours is running slow?

I hate to feel like I'm persecuting you or something but that's just an insanely high score so early on. Like I said before, I've gotten pretty far without dying, and destroying every enemy on screen, and have gotten only a fraction of that score. I've gotten around 300k tonight while almost getting to the first boss (again, I consider the blue guy to be the first boss), and beating him would only get me around 400-500k, so I find it crazy that you can get a such an incredibly high score without even beating the first enemy that yields 50k.

As far as 1ups go, I get them when I meet the score requirement. Nothing weird there...

@Hobie: it's running on a PS2 emulator, and seems to be going the same speed as in the youtube vids I've seen.

watch a youtube run through the first few stages on Genesis, compare to yours, and report back.
