if it is a regular pal mega drive then yes...but this does look alot like the one have and mine has built in games and is region free so at best i can say maybe

scroll down to japanese mega drive 2 it states that some vere released in europe and austria so it´s a good bet it´s legit mine however i doubt unless 20 built in games became a regular thing in japan :D

Looks like a JAP Mega Drive 2 according to that site :D / NM you just said that.

Looks pretty identical though .. I think i'll buy one. Does this mean it wouldn't work with an North American Sega CD / 32x?

It's most likely not a Japanese MegaDrive. The JP boxes are really colorful for the MDverII.

buy a us genesis and install a 50/60 hz switch if you want to play import games

I don't wish to play imports (well i guess technically playing US games on a JAP system is playing imports lol) thats the problem :P ... i wish to play US games. I was just looking at this one cause its brand new, cheap(ish) and also pretty neat lol. If it plays US games (including the ones after 1992 that have region lock software) i'll buy it :P

The system plays NTSC games as well as nearly every PAL game.
it's a hack. if this is really true.
