I'm sure some of you have played or heard of Retro Game Challenge on the Nintendo DS. This is the TV show it was based off. The show sees Japanese Comedian Shinya Arino play though a series of retro video game challenges. The show also cotains interviews and tours of video game shops, game centers (arcades), video game expos and other video game related places. The show started in 2003 and is still going today, many of the episodes can be found subtitled on youtube.

I heard the video game news site Kotaku localised some of the episodes but apparently they did a terrible job of it so you best of watching on youtube.

I saw the Ninja Gaiden episode and I found it terribly boring. There's no focus on the game itself, with little explanation of what's happening or why it's interesting but the host doesn't do much either, he just explains a joke here and there.

Dunno, I was very dissapointed after the amount of praise the series gets.

This is pretty good... but I'll have to set aside A LOT of time to watch them.

I love this show. I've watched through the 2nd season, and I also watched all of the episodes that Kotaku translated as well. Stopped watching since there were a few episodes missing, but I'll probably pick it up again soon.

Just some FYI: Arino is a popular comedian, and not a gamer....which is why it's funny to Japanese viewers. He already has been established and the gag of the show is he's supposed to be a fish out of water when it comes to games.

Thanks for listing these! I've seen a handful of random eps and I love this show. It's also on the Wii's Minna no Nintendo channel and the 3DS eshop.
