I'd be interested to find out what percentage of Cosmopolitan's reader base is male.

So... finally got everything fixed for my father. Salvaged his manuscript, un-gutted my old PC from his not-as-old-PC and put in a new OS to keep things tidy, saving hundreds of hours of re-typing and hundreds of dollars in professional recovery.
And now I have to deal with fixing his new computer that he bought for more than he initially told me (I don't care that it's his money, he should still be smarter about it) that's totally not what I'm used to (Windows 7).
Of course, as I'm trouble shooting it, he's complaining that he wants his old '98 software to work on it. I can't explain enough times that you can't run old software on a new operating system -- it's like trying to take car parts from 1998 and using them to repair your DVD player -- I take the new LCD, the new keyboard, and new mouse, hook them up to the old PC... and he is floored at how I made his old programs work with the new computer.

My scheduling skills have died of dysentery; I hope to visit at least on a monthly basis.
Still, don't forget to tip your waitress.

Re: Random Thoughts Thread
That reminds me of a funny story a friend once told me. My friend had a friend, let's call him Roy. Roy had a younger brother, let's call him Tod. Roy had an older computer, it wasn't ancient, but it wasn't anything decent. Tod got a nice new computer. Tod didn't really need a nice new computer, and apparently knew nothing about computers. So my friend and Roy decided to completely swap everything out of both computers. They were two different brands, let's say that Roy had a Dell and Tod had a Compaq (they were both standard form factors, whatever brands they were). Anyways, they switched the computers' guts out of both towers. I asked my friend if Tod ever noticed. He laughed and said when Tod turned on his computer he asked why the splash screen said Dell. Apparently Todd didn't ponder it too much because he never had any idea about the swap.

Is it bad that playing Goldeneye on the wii just makes me want to play it on the N64 instead? I have a feeling I might not be the only one who feels that way. haha

Yeah, whenever I read coverage of the new version I always get an urge to break out my original version.harper wrote:Is it bad that playing Goldeneye on the wii just makes me want to play it on the N64 instead? I have a feeling I might not be the only one who feels that way. haha

I think the Gary Busey vs shirtless Mel Gibson fight in the rain and mud at the end of Lethal Weapon would be much more entertaining in 2012.

Re: Random Thoughts Thread
i tried beating rayman for the saturn. but it ain't happening. and after reading the together retro rayman thread i'm glad i am not the only one with the same complaints.
for a platformer, the game is hard. damn hard. i am even going to say harder than super meat boy. super meat boy doesn't have any consequences for dying, as there are unlimited lives and you can repeat the same screen over and over until the cow's come home. also, i find that having to find all those cages to be able to beat the game to just be an annoyance. i know i can just look online to find where they are located, but what fun is that?
