How do multi-gamer families handle Backloggery?

Post by Key-Glyph »

I'm curious what all you Backloggery folks do when you've got other gamers in your family, either as significant others or kids.

Do you consider all the games among you collectively owned? Do you only consider the ones you've bought for yourself "yours?" What about games you've given as gifts? Games you've given away?

When my husband and I made a master spreadsheet of our household's systems, games, and extras, we noted which things "belonged" to whom, even though everything is shared. When I started my Backloggery, though, I entered everything we owned into my account with no such distinction. I can't decide whether my Backloggery decision is somehow misrepresenting my gamer identity.

And yes, I am overthinking this. :P

I would say handle them seperately, even if you share them it would define each persons taste.

I like my backloggery to represent my collection of quirkyness even tho I cant keep up with logging stuff in

My backloggery = my stuff that I own.

Any game that isn't mine would be under the "borrowed" tag.

I would use Backloggery more as a "games I will actually play someday" list in that situation. There is no use in entering every game in the household if you have zero interest some of them. So, I would just enter the games I plan on playing someday.

"Borrowing" doesn't make much sense if the owner is your spouse. Borrowing would seem more to indicate that the game doesn't normally reside at your house and is just there temporarily.

I suppose that is what I do already, even though I am the only one who "owns" games in my house, although I only own games I would play in the first place!

I agree with a lot of that. But for example, I wouldn't count my girlfriend's copy of Just Dance 3 as my own, but she owns the ps2 and I own the ps2 games, well the good ones anyway. :P So the ps2 is kinda mine too...or am I just borrowing it? I'm so confused. lol

I've bought 90% of the games and systems in my house, I know the most, and use them the most so I just claim everything for myself. :D

You're married. You guys both own it all and you have to own up to his bad game choices.

This is actually a pretty funny topic because it reminds me of one of my friends. My said friend runs a website [sleeperhit.net] and i always see him playing god awful disney games on his facebook account that he has to review.

I'm married. So it's the other way around for me: My wife claims everything I own.
