The only way i've figured to boost my score is to stick w/the spread gun (default weapon), and I forego all the blue/green guns, then each time I grab the orange default weapon, it's worth 5K each time, I hit that usually 3 times by the time I hit the tank.
I haven't discovered any other chaining or proximity scoring tips.
And yes, I typically die with a full stock of bombs :/
@fvgazi - good news / bad news, after the 3 green dual-pink lazer guys, there are 4 guys who basically do the same thing, but take more hits to kill...then the tank.
Shmup of the Month Club 2012
Re: Shmup of the Month Club (TRUXTON) (OP updated 1/3, Vote!
That's what's doing me in too. And when you die, you start near where you did, but you're much slower and underpowered, and the only time I can get a good score is to use all my bombs on them and hope for the best. The boss "tank" isn't even an issue, their shots spread wide so they are easy to avoid! It's those damn green shipsfvgazi wrote:
The tank? Ohh.. that's not too far ahead of me. I'm at those stupid 3 green guys that shoot the double purple lasers. They are pissing me off.

Ok! Got my hands dirty a bit and came up with a beauty

No lie. I finally figured out the damn green laser firing ships.
- blue weapon powered to 3-at-once
- 2 bombs square in when they come out
and the blue weapon melts them down INSTANTLY after 2 bombs. Able to carry the 3 lightning to the very end. Stupid brown balls and the rotating green ships at the very beginning of stage 2 did me in. Got as far, environment wise, as that 200K score I logged on the Genesis version.
All on default settings.
Try my tip -- and may it serve you well!

I was pretty busy yesterday and am today as well (I say this while posting on a forum), but I'm going to try to play the MAME version today. Also gonna update the OP with scores.
You can vote for 8 more devs.scarper wrote:I am interested in this club, and I vote for Taito.

97,660 (Gen)
not a great score, but I gotta log something to push myself to beat it...
EDIT: 126,510 (Gen)
EDIT: what pisses me off is I often don't see the bullets against the backgrounds until they're are just about to hit me.
EDIT: 960,090 (Gen)
Apparently playing with an arcade stick on PS2 is a lot better for me than PSP.

I have to agree with arcade stick. I was using keyboard on MAME, then switched to a PS2 controller. My next attempt will be with my arcade stick if I decide not to be lazy and set it up.noiseredux wrote:97,660 (Gen)

it's just proof I suck as shmups without a stick. It's too bad, I love my PSP but I'm terrible playing shmups on it.

960,000 on Gen? I know it's much easier than the arcade, but s***noiseredux wrote:EDIT: 960,090 (Gen)

Dayum noiseredux, you slayed it. Sadly I've been too busy/lazy to try the arcade version yet, but eh, it's only the 9th. I'll try it for sure within the next few days. Gotta stir up some competition to keep the club alive!
I was thinking of switching the way the OP is formatted to display scores by versions. No one has posted a PCE score yet but we have both Genesis and MAME scores mixed together. Posting them separately doesn't mean you can't add your scores to both tables (playing multiple versions can be fun), but I think it might be a good idea to separate the scores to make it fair. Especially for games that are drastically different in difficulty depending on the version, which according to the posts so far, Truxton apparently is.
Also, we need votes people! I mean if we just go into the year where the standings are at now, it'd be fine as all the nominated devs are solid, but yeah. The more votes the better. Hopefully voting stays strong through-out the year so we can get solid picks on games every month.

I'm cool with the lineup of developers, I think we should move to voting on games now so that we can start hunting down anything we may need to.brunoafh wrote:Also, we need votes people!
