116,830 on MAME - a VERY slight increase. I can see hitting 200 by the end of next week if I work at it some...

My very first run has been my best (weird), i'm stuck right in the 90-100K range right now.

On the rom your using, does the blue gun do anything? My blue gun goes 1" and stops? It seems totally useless?

No, just tapping (rapidly) as w/the green and standard weapons. This pad doesn't have turbo function...do I need it to use the blue weapon? I would think not as this game came out in 88'.

I will be reporting in on the MAME version tomorrow. Like Breetai, I like playing console ports, but if the difficulty is drastically altered in the Gen port then I will do MAME. Apparently it's easy to get MAME running on Ubuntu so I'm game.

Also, about the first boss. If you carefully watch the the cannon type things that shoot projectiles you'll notice they can only be damaged when open. If you get the timing down, you can take out every cannon with 2 bombs. Just memorize the times they open and close. Once all of the cannons are taken out the boss is no problem at all. Not sure how the first boss acts in the arcade version but after figuring the timing out on the Genesis version I was able to take the boss down with no problem every time. Also, it gives a shit-ton of points.

Just hold the fire button for the blue lightening. It locks on to big objects while you hold the button down. Occasionally you'll need to let to and restart it when there are small ships flying around you that need swatting and you're hitting big stuff.

Just hold the fire button for the blue lightening. It locks on to big objects while you hold the button down. Occasionally you'll need to let to and restart it when there are small ships flying around you that need swatting and you're hitting big stuff.

So, ummm, yeah, still hate the blue gun, it is nice in some areas, but such little power, ughh.

I think i'm done til' February, this game is making me crabby.

Uh... only 31300 on MAME so far. I've only played through a handful of times. Stupid double green ships keep getting me. I need to up this score by the end of tonight. I want to at least get 100,000 by 12AM tonight. I still have 4 hours.

After getting to that tank, area 36, at full lives, fully loaded about 40 times in a row yesterday, I finally got by him and coasted through to area 47 fully loaded, then died. Then, I start off right in front of these two electric blue bolts that each shoot 3 bullets - I died 3 times in a row, w/o getting a shot off - very frustrating.

Then, I start off right in front of these two electric blue bolts that each shoot 3 bullets - I died 3 times in a row, w/o getting a shot off]

I got killed by the tank a few times in that last run, conserving bombs like an idiot.

Is thre any way to boost score? Proximity kills, suiciding, etc?

The tank? Ohh.. that's not too far ahead of me. I'm at those stupid 3 green guys that shoot the double purple lasers. They are pissing me off.
So much for playing all night. I'm meeting some friends at the bar.
