after brainstorming in dsheinem's thread about collecting niche stuff, I think I'm gonna go for the PS1 launch lineup. That's something I intended to do last year, but didn't. I have 4 of the 10 games now, but 2 of them are re-released in jewel cases. I'm debating upgrading those 2 to longboxes.

Once I finish the PS1 launch titles, I'll probably think about doing PS2 launch games. Though that's a longer list...

And a list of games you're more likely to actually spend some time with.

My goal for this year is to stop buying so many games, and actually play them.

I probably bought over 50 shmups last year, because I had just discovered the awesomeness of the genre, and I wanted to try everything I could. Now I have far too many to actually get good at any of them.

I have a real goal I'm going to try to accomplish haha. I want to acquire one of each color N64 (official Nintendo) controller. Once I do that I'm debating whether or not I want to get all of their joysticks replaced with those fancy 3rd party gamecube-esque joysticks. I'm thinking I'll leave the good ones be because I hear the new ones can be a little too sensitive for certain games (haven't tried 'em yet personally).

You gonna do this afterwards?

I don't know? You think? I have a lot of nostalgia for a lot of those early PS1 games. That launch PS2 titles were... varied.

Here's a starting list of DS and 3DS games I plan on grabbing this year

Starfox Command - I heard this one is really good and I'm an old Starfox fan
Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow - It's the only Castevania on the DS I don't own
Mega Man Zero Collection - Well, I've already played all the main MM X games
Viva Pinata Pocket Paradise - If it's even close to being as awesome as the 360 games....
Little Red Riding Hood Zombie BBQ - Awesome on DSiWare, want the retail version too
Professor Layton - I hear so many good things about this game
the Phoenix Cartwright games - as do I for this series as well
Nano Assault - This game looks interesting from what I've read and seen. Seems to have a good soundtrack and I like the Starfox like rail segements
Street Fighter 4 - I'm curious about how they've incorporated special moves and combos using the touch screen. I'm just really curious to see how well this plays on the 3DS as control is everything in a fighter

I want to definitely blow through some of my backlog. Also may look into aquiring a decent 7800 and Jaguar collection. Even though I didn't want to really reach out to other consoles much anymore, I think the libraries are small enough that I can keep my focus with them.

(Been on an Atari binge lately. Been playing a ton in emulators and on my Jag.)
Older. Not wiser.

^I'm not really sure I want to make this a priority afterall. After further thought there's already too many games I want to buy that I really want to play, rather than focus on just something to collect with a theme. Also, the PS2 launch lineup looks like it's more than half games I don't even want. Haha.

I think more than anything I want to just buy games I plan on really playing this year. And I think I'd like to try to nab more shmups that I've been wanting but were maybe too pricey.
