Yes, the PS2 improves little things here and there, but Bleem increases the resolution. If the PS2 increased the resolution of MGS, then it'd be a valid comparison.kevinski wrote:That's where you're wrong. PlayStation 2 does try to enhance the quality of the visuals if you change the settings accordingly. The textures are supposed to be smoother (which is yet another perk to using bleemcast!, of course). I don't see why PlayStation 2 doesn't implement anti-aliasing, though, especially since Dreamcast does anti-aliasing so well on MGS. The comparison is completely valid, as a result, and Dreamcast easily comes out on top in many respects. The game ultimately just performs much better on Dreamcast, at least, if you're using PlayStation 2's enhanced mode.GSZX1337 wrote:You know the PS2 doesn't really enhance the quality of the game visuals much, right? Bleem enhances the game visuals.

The analog on the Dreamcast controller is just horrible. It is so hard to control during the rappelling and the last section during the jeep chase. I just cannot for the life of me turn the guns correctly to the point that I had to hook up a ps1 controller with controller converter to pass those sections.kevinski wrote:I really don't see how the control is horrible on Dreamcast. Care to elaborate?peace4myheart wrote:I have played both and I really do like the enhanced graphics on the Dreamcast. However, that's all it has going for it on the Dreamcast. With all the glitches and horrible control with the Dreamcast, I don't know if it is better as far as the overall experience.
So, the comparison is invalid because the games aren't displayed in the same resolution? For the record, the resolution has absolutely nothing to do with anti-aliasing, which PlayStation 2 still doesn't bother with, for some reason. I don't see how the comparison is any less legit because Sony can't get its head out of its ass about increasing the resolution for games that're actually backwards-compatible with its consoles. It's the same way on PlayStation 3, if I'm not mistaken.GSZX1337 wrote:Yes, the PS2 improves little things here and there, but Bleem increases the resolution. This task should've been a piece of cake for PlayStation 2. Thing is, early PlayStation 2 releases (primarily in Japan) had graphical issues that probably carried over into the PlayStation (1) emulation to a certain extent, as well.
That's odd. I don't recall having any issues toward the end of the game. For the record, I've played and beaten the game on Dreamcast, PC and PlayStation, all with no issues (aside from the PC version's FAMAS glitch during one sequence).peace4myheart wrote:The analog on the Dreamcast controller is just horrible. I would get the bleem version just for the fact that its on my favorite console. Well, actually, I was impressed with the video, because the Dreamcast version didn't look all washed out and blue like the PS2 emulation. It was very impressive on PS2, I can't imagine how great it would be on the Dreamcast.

I'm kinda tempted to go back and play the PC version, just to see how it stacks up. I wonder if the stealth camoflage effect will still make the frame rate tank on my new computer? I've heard that it happens due to the effect being software-based, rather than hardware-based.The Apprentice wrote:I would get the bleem version just for the fact that its on my favorite console.
