Radiant Historia is more of a Quantum Leap "set right what once went wrong" style of time travel, while Chrono Trigger tends to use it as an excuse to visit a lot of varied environments and peoples. There are a few time travel consequences, such as Marle erasing herself from existence and the sunken desert questline, but it's not nearly to the same degree as it's used in Radiant Historia. RH also has a really cool combat system that uses positioning manipulation as the primary mechanic of maximizing damage output.

Yup. Radiant Historia's time travel is more "realistic", meaning that when you go back in time you literally go back and may have to play through scenarios you've already seen.

The battle system is dope, I love how you can stack enemies and hit them all at once for maximum damage. Aht can set traps too, which I didn't discover until about 20 hours in.

Aht's traps are incredibly over powered. They do the most damage in the game, and with Stocke it is very easy to trigger them. Plus the ranked up versions can double hit large mobs, which makes some bosses super easy.

I wish I had utilized Aht more throughout the game, I kept using Stocke, Raynie, and Marco whenever I had an option.

I told my friend about this game, and in November he nabbed it from a seller on eBay who was selling them for $32 brand new + free shipping. Now gougers are expecting $70+ for the game. Last night I nabbed it for $37 used in excellent condition.

Maybe the prices jumped high because of this thread?

So, broke down and got this game yesterday before the price hike got any worse. Got it at a local gamestop, so just the game, but I had them throw in a case, so I should be able to reprint the cover art. Cost me $27, but the same thing on ebay right now is in the $40-50 range, so I consider that a bargain.

Playing through the first hour, it's a lot of fun. I like how the storyline makes you feel like your decisions and actions carry real weight, and the tactical "push and pull" combat system is entertaining as hell.
