This alphabet quilt is aimed at babies, right? So the picture for "I" must be something very simple and easy to understand. Something like an Idaho potato would be too complicated for a baby just learning the alphabet.

It's a depiction of Isis...

I think I got it. How about ink?

It looks sorta like a drop of ink, right? No idea about the ribbon though.

Maybe the clumsy fellow dropped his small piece of ribbon right onto the spot where he just spilled some ink.
Gosh, I hate when that happens.

wow, sorry to leave you guys hanging :)

the quilt, as i found out, was made in hawaii and purchased by a teacher at the center. she didn't know what the hell it was, but some careful googling revealed that it must be an ipu, a hawaiian percussive instrument.

this fucking ipu had me all sorts of stressed out today.

Hahaha I knew it looked like a gourd (I'm assuming this is made of one) but I would've never guessed that in a trillion years. I have to say the answer was a little anti-climactic but it had me wondering all freakin day. lol

It's so true! I kept wondering if anyone had solved it yet during random moments at work.

Also, when I initially viewed this thread, dsheinem had already changed his avatar to match. I laughed so hard.
