In the new release, yes. It doesn't come on a CD, either.Luke wrote:You can play as Tails on Sonic CD?REPO Man wrote:Sonic CD again, as Tails w/ all Time Stones. So it should just be called "Sonic".dsheinem wrote:In the new release, yes. It doesn't come on a CD, either.

I hope the new release is at least a good port.dsheinem wrote: In the new release, yes. It doesn't come on a CD, either.
I purchased the original sonic on the gba and it was terrible. Such a shame.

The new one, from what I understand, is the best version of the game you can get.

I believe the PSN version is still on sale for $4.99 -- I should really grab it now. I'm pretty sure that big Sega & Capcom sale on PSN lasts until 1/10.AppleQueso wrote:The new one, from what I understand, is the best version of the game you can get.

Created with the "Retro Engine" by Christian "Taxman" Whitehead (so basically a fan-created engine)AppleQueso wrote:The new one, from what I understand, is the best version of the game you can get.
-Locked 60fps on every platform
-Playable Tails, unlocked after beating the game once
-Both Japanese/EU and US soundtracks (unsure of ability to toggle on the fly)
-Can choose between Sonic 2-styled spindash or Sonic CD spindash
-iOS features
-Time-attack leaderboards
-Achievements/Trophies
-Widescreen support
-Ability to toggle between new and old filters/graphics modes in real time
-Android version will support Xperia Play control input[/quote]
With this and Sonic Generations, the hedgehog ended 2011 in style
Or maybe just rename it Sonic 4 and pretend that the other one never existedOpa Opa wrote:So it should just be called "Sonic".dsheinem wrote:In the new release, yes. It doesn't come on a CD, either.

I've played the demo. It's fine. In fact, it's better because of having both soundtracks, and the game doesn't have those tiny pauses while the system loads up the next music track anymore.Luke wrote:I hope the new release is at least a good port.dsheinem wrote: In the new release, yes. Re: Games Beaten 2012
1. Sonic CD (PSN)
well that didn't take me too long! I haven't played Sonic CD since around the time it came out. It was one of my favorite Sega CD games back then. But wow. I haven't had a SCD in many, many years. Turns out it was like riding a bike. I lost 2 lives on the last level (stupid pits). But besides that, I flew right through on a single life. Y'know, I often site Sonic 2 as my favorite of the original series. But I really love Sonic CD. I think it has a certain 90's something-awesome going on. From the shitty music, to the awesome anime cut-scenes, I just love it. Sure the levels are a little meh compared to Sonic 2, but really I think they were short because the devs probably put more thought into the bells and whistles afforded by the CD technology. Anyway, I'm so glad to see this on PSN. The added trophies are awesome, and I'm sure to play through it again. (After Sonic Generations, I'm totally nostalgic for more Sonic).

The game is on sale? I bought it for 400 MS points ($5) and thought that was the normal price considering S&K and the other Genesis games are 240 points ($3). No matter, everyone should go and download this game; it is one of my top 3 favorite Sonic games.

I really don't know. It came out at $4.99, but Sega was having a sale at the same time, so not sure if that's normal price or sale price.swiftzx wrote: The game is on sale?
