Famicom Collection at the end of the Year

Post by senseiman »

I just went around my apartment and photographed most of my collection in the various nooks and crannies into which I have crammed it:

I have about 2/3 of the Famicom collection - more than 700 carts, plus about 300-400 duplicates. That takes up a lot of space in a small Japanese apartment, especially when added onto all the carts for my other consoles.

I like your blog a lot senseiman. I remember when you wrote that post about storing carts on dish racks. I went to the local dollar store to see if they sell anything like the dish racks in your post. No such luck. American dollar stores don't sell those.

I've been wanting to ask you a question: Is the AV Famicom rare in Japan? The NES2 top loaders are hard to find here in the US; it took me four years to find one for a decent price. Are they more available in Japan?

Thanks, samsonlonghair! Bummer about the US dollar stores not selling those dish racks, I love my little set up.

Like vlame says the AV Famicom can`t be bought in bulk or anything. I wouldn`t quite describe it as `rare`, but it is much harder to find than the regular red and white Famicom. They generally sell for about 60-70$ in stores for a loose one in decent condition, more if they are boxed.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I've been wanting to get my hands on an AV famicom for a while. I was hoping they were more common than that. Let me know if you ever spot a good deal on one.

No prob. I`ll keep an eye out, sometimes I do stumble onto them for decent deals, though they are a bit hard to come by!
