Arc Rise Fantasia?

Post by BoneSnapDeez »

Anyone play this? It's for the Wii, I've heard that it's quite similar to the Tales games. Might try this pretty soon if it's any good.

I have interest too. Imageepoch's games are generally well received so it's probably decent, but I'm sure it's generic. One major complaint that I've read is that the English dub is dreadful and can't be turned off. That alone makes it hard for me to want to play it. I have more interest in the Shiren Wii game and of course Xenoblade as far as Wii RPGs go.

I've heard the same comments about the voice acting in every review I've read. Bad voice acting has never been a deal-breaker for me though, so I'm still willing to give it a shot.

Looks like a decent game that really flew under everyone's radar. I'm hoping it is like a Tales game, I loved ToS: Dawn of the New World on the Wii.

It feels like a pastiche of other, better, games. The battle system artificially keeps you from just mashing the attack button, even tho you will 99% of the time just attack w/ every party member. (You have to select which character you want to attack with, and you get so many points to spend on your actions each turn, so you could attack three times with the same character if you wanted to, but the game rewards you for not doing so, which means the whole system is kind of useless.)

The overworld screen is so ugly and confusing you'll want to just run to the next town as quickly as possible rather than go exploring.

The translation leaves a bit to be desired and the voice acting is adequate without being very good (which doesn't bother me too much).

It's not a bad game, and I've been playing it a little while, it just does too many things that don't work. As far as it being similar to a Tales game... there are dialogue bits between characters that you can press a button to view or ignore completely. The game DOES have a Tales feel to it, but more like Tales of Eternia than one of the really good ones, LOL. (The voice acting is QUITE as bad as Tales of Destiny 2's is - the U.S. ToE, I mean - but it's bad, and the game doesn't give you a lot of reasons to keep playing.)
I have a ton of games listed at my store's site: Super Smash Video Games
