Saturn 3D Pad: Love the the analog thumb stick and removable cable attachment!
Saturn JPN controller: Simply love the the L and R shoulder buttons and controller shape.
Dreamcast: D Pad and VM Slots.

DC's D-pad is one of the worst I've encountered.

I dig it! Works great for fighters and then some. Never had a problem with it. And perhaps the best Dpad of its respective console gen ( I know I know PS2 pad! Don't like how it feels after it sinks in over time).

Buttons: Genesis 3 - I love these huge concave buttons. So comfy!
Shoulder - GBA and SNES, no contest
Triggers - DC
D Pad - Genesis and NES
Joysticks - Gamecube
Shape - Genesis 3 button

Surprise - A Wii Mote turned sideways is a surprisingly comfy controller

They had concave buttons? Huh, maybe I should pick one up... do the controllers work with second model Genesises? I'm *assuming* it uses the same universal DE-9 connection that the Genesis, Master System, and 2600 controllers use, but I don't want to buy something I can't use.

I second this. Never seen a better controller for 2D games. The d-pad is the best ever made, a full 6 face buttons (I hate how modern controllers only have 4 face buttons), and the shoulder buttons are fantastic as well.

One more thing I want to add. I've been playing a lot of Mario Kart 7 on the 3DS lately, and while I generally hate how tiny the system is, the circle pad is very nice. Really looking forward to the next 3DS model. I just hope it is big enough to use comfortably.

Yeah the 3 button controllers had concave buttons and yes they work with the second model Genesis. The 6 button also had the same concave A B C buttons but added three small rounded buttons on top of it. I was never a big fan of 6 button controllers, the Saturn third party controllers were much better as everything was more proportional.

They're brilliant for fighting games.

All Genesis controllers work with all other Genesis variants. The only thing is some games are freaked out by 6 buttons, thus the 'mode' button you hold when powering on the system for those few games. Master System are a little different than Gen ones. 2600 sticks work differently than Gen ones.

D-Pad: Classic Controller Pro or Saturn
Buttons: I like the A and B buttons on N64
Bumpers: As someone else said, the ds phat's shoulder buttons are big and confortable
Triggers: 360. Quick and easy to use
Analog: Gamecube and Classic Controller Pro. I like CCP a little bit more since it is a wee bit smaller.
