Reviving an old thread or starting a new one along the same lines of one that's been dead for months or even years?
I'd rather look at a new thread than one that has 285478 pages and replies, but maybe that's just me. Are there any rules or regulations on this that I have missed? I think I've read through all the guidelines here but maybe I missed something?
which is worse? a question about gravedigging :)

At first I thought this was actually about digging a grave/funeral topic. lol.
You can necro-post. No rules against it. In the long run it will keep the forum more tidy. Instead of 100 threads about "saturn mod-chip help" have just one or two threads and post in those for help.

Problem is people bitch about necroing a post and then others will complain saying "not this topic again" or "we already have a thread for this" if it is a new post...

Yeah that's kind of what I was thinking. Either someone says something about bringing back an old thread, or they refer you to another one that's freakin old.Jmustang1968 wrote:Problem is people bitch about necroing a post and then others will complain saying "not this topic again" or "we already have a thread for this" if it is a new post...
That's why i was wondering if there's any actual method to this madness. haha

i'd say necro bump if it is from the past 2-3 years, especially if it was a thread with a few pages of replies.

I would say do whatever you feel is most appropriate and ignore the inevitable troll postsharper wrote:Yeah that's kind of what I was thinking. From the rules:
This question has already been asked a couple times, ironically, but I've never seen a good guideline for it. I'm with the side that favors fewer threads but larger ones rather than more threads but smaller ones.5) If someone has already titled a thread with the same problem as you, but everything we've done to help this person does not help you. Do NOT be afraid to post in that thread instead of making a brand new one.

Ok, that does kind of help. The only problem with that is it would make it harder to skim through and find if your question has already been asked or answered in a thread that may or may not be about the particular question you're looking for an answer for.
Re: which is worse? a question about gravedigging :)
Well, if the thread isn't about your problem at all, then a new thread is called for, right?
