I buy games that I think my family would play even if they didnt know they would like it.

For instance

Ducktales,Toy Story 2,Robots and Monsters Inc worked out great for playtime between me and my 2 yr old.

And to convert my non gamer wife,I pick up stuff like Kart Racers,Puzzlers like Super bust a Move and for some reason Tennis games seem to spark casual grudge matches.(Sonic tennis and Smash Court Tennis is the current deathmatch)

As for myself any game on the cheap or not much info availble on I usually give a fair chance.
If you can see the future while remembering the past, you may just have control of the present.

When I was young, I bought Section Z (NES) because the character on the cover reminded me of megaman.

I was disapointed when I played it and found out it wasn't a platformer.

What's wrong with 3D platformers, Racers, and FPS?

Im not a huge fan of FPS unless it has like a story line (non-CoD) and ive been getting more into 3rd person shooters, i find them more fun (Uncharted, Dead Space, Army Of Two)

Nothing. It's just that that was all I ever played. I had fewer than five games from other genres at the time.

I enjoy buying and playing games I know are terrible. I don't like mediocre stuff, just the genuinely awful.

Still need to get a copy of Superman 64.

Don't add to my problems by pretending my past views are still held in the present. I do not have any patience for that. Feel free to ask me what I think now.

I haven't bought them yet, but I'm in the same club of "Otomedius Excellent and Hyperdimension Neptunia for the girls." I'll grab OE in a few weeks and HN when I get a PS3.

Decent game though.

I almost always only buy games if/because they're cheap. Unless it's something that really sticks out to me because I want it for a specific reason.
I know better than to judge a game by it's cover art but if it looks cool I'll probably get it anyway (as long as it's cheap of course  )

Used to to buy games based on the cover art a lot and lets just say i bought a lot of crap over the years. Cy Girls was the game that made me rethink that policy :D

Picked up Shatter Hand for the NES because of the ridiculous cover art. Joke was on me, it's a fantastic game.

I buy almost every hockey game available, simply because I have a hockey video game collection.
