playing the Genesis version via emu. Pretty tough. Tried a few times and couldn't beat the first boss. So far I like the blue beam, but not sure it likes me.

On the Genesis I like the blue beam too, but on MAME I'm digging the red/orange one. I need to play the Genesis one this week and figure out which i want to spend the most time with this week, but I remember getting to a certain point in that game and just getting pissed off.

Looking at a 1cc or two on YouTube on MAME - they also seem to favor the red/orange . Haven't looked at Genesis runs yet.

Gen made more sense to me since I can emulate on my PS2 with arcade stick easily.

I think the red weapon is the way to go. The blue one is pretty badass but eh. Red one seems to work better.

Genesis version doesn't have a high score screen so I had to take a pic mid play.

edit: Played on "Normal" setting. Wonder how that compares to the default setting of the arcade game?

I haven't researched differences on the diff. roms or actual game carts / arcade boards. We should figure that out and be sure were all on the same settings.

216K is a good score.

I prefer the green gun, powered up - w/some speed obviously. Starting to find the dead spots on the 1st stage so I can get to level 2 w/all lives intact.
