Devil May Cry HD Collection coming in early 2012

I have never played these games except the demo of the 4th one (Which I hated). I hear a lot of people say that the first one was the only good one. Is this true? Also what is this game like? Is it like Ninja Gaiden or more like God of War?

DMC 3>DMC 1>DMC 4 or DMC 2 (I find these two to be about the same level of quality)

DMC3 is in my top five all time favorite games.

If I had to pick I'd say they are more like God of War than Ninja Gaiden, but it is really its own thing and predates both (it predates the current NG series of games, that is.).

Like dsheinem said the 3rd one is in a league of it's own. If you hated the 4th one though then I dunno. Pretty much anyone will tell you DMC 3 is a great game.

I also agree with this, although I feel like DMC 2 and 4 are still good games that get too much flak.

I would say DMC is more similar to Ninja Gaiden. It's more focused on precision and difficult combat, whereas GoW is a cinematic button masher that doesn't focus much on technique at all like the Japanese action games tend to. Both DMC and GoW have the puzzle sections though, so they do have that element in common.
