Video Game "Look what I found"
Re: Video Game "Finds of the Day"
I'd be cool with that as well.
Re: Video Game "Finds of the Day"
I think that's a good solution as well.

This is the first part of the OP...
As far as I know most of the things posted in this thread -mine included- fit the criteria posted in the OP. So I don't see the problem really. Just leave it be...CaptainWeasel wrote:Okay, I have been thinking about doing this for a while, and a certain new topic just happened to come up, so here it is. This is the topic you will put your finds in. If you received a gaming-related item and were thinking about posting a topic, STOP AND POST IT HERE.
So, with input from other racketboy members, we can make this an interesting thread. I love what other people find at flea markets, garage/yard sales, and pawn shops, but we have to consolidate these posts to reduce clutter.
Posting is simple... all you have to do is tell everyone what you got, where you got it, and how much you paid for the items. Pictures aren't necessary, but sure are a bonus.

Re: Video Game "Finds of the Day"
For the people that are for 1 ginormous thread that contains awesome deals, pedestrian buys, and short stories about everything tangentially related to gaming that someone purchases, how many of you would honestly read every word of every single post? If that thread gets a bunch of posts every day, are you really going to read it all? IMHO it just turns into a flurry of posts that nobody really cares about.
If someone is a casual visitor that only drops in from time to time, I can't see them to go back to read 100 or more posts of people's purchases in the thread that have appeared since they last visited a week or two ago. There will be far more interesting threads to go visit in their limited visits and I'm pretty sure they're only going to pick and choose instead of reading everything since their last visit.lwcook wrote: The problem is that it can get confusing for everyone else that comes here and posts casually, lurks, or (especially) newbies. While it might "de-clutter" things for the people that check the threads multiple times a day, it might put off new members and even casual posters from interacting with the forum because they just can't hop in and post their finds like they do now.

It depends I think on the person. I personally have "Show New Posts" bookmarked as my Racketboy link and just click that when I want to check out what's new here. I almost never go to the board index when I visit.Hobie-wan wrote:If someone is a casual visitor that only drops in from time to time, I can't see them to go back to read 100 or more posts of people's purchases in the thread that have appeared since they last visited a week or two ago. And no, I won't go back and read like last hundred posts, but I never do that in any multi-page thread. I will go back and read the most recent ones...the ones that are of current discussion so maybe I can chime in on the subject/find of the day.

Re: Video Game "Finds of the Day"
Agreed - this should still be an outlet for folks sharing what they found that day. I can't speak for why some would be possessed to post common type finds but it's their way of sharing to an audience that would care.dsheinem wrote:yup. A "Finds of the Day" and a "Finds of the Year" kind of thing. Neither stickied. The "games acquired" thing can keep on keeping on.noiseredux wrote:so basically keep "finds of the day" as a catch-all, but then have a OMG I JUST FOUND A HOLY GRAIL IN A TRASH CAN thread for super-rare/valuable/unbelievable kind of finds?
Now, I would like a separate thread for "mjmjr25 just got in new arcade stuff from the East" finds. MAKE THIS HAPPEN
Re: Video Game "Finds of the Day"
I have never had a problem with this thread. Though if you feel you must change anything then just make a new thread of the amazing rare finds.
Though I do have to point out that a lot of what I post in here is informing all of you of Target Clearance that is gaming related. A lot of you have scored off of that. So what do you consider that? Where do I post it so that I can still let my fellow Racketboy folks get a crack at cheap new shit? I mean I know Hobie has scored off of it and I am sure that he and everyone else would want to know if more good things go to clearance. Right now a bunch of new games like Red Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare Game of the Year Edition and Professor Layton and the Last Specter are on clearance. Where would I need to post those so now?

Re: Video Game "Finds of the Day"
It come down to the fact that these are freely usable forums. This thread violates no rules. We are all able to read or ignore what we wish. Obviously it is working as-is and by that the people have already decided. If everyone or even a majority did not like this thread then it would have died out or not been as popular.
I think locking a thread just because it has grown or changed should be against the rules. Follow the rules of the site guys, not your particular taste.
