What a great way to start 2012

Post by mas »

So today on 1/1/2012, my brother dropped off a lot of sega genesis games. The games are street fighter 2, sonic 2, nba jam, nba jam te, ecco the tides of time, lanstalker, wrestlemania arcade, ultimate mk3, mk2, castlevania, lotus 2, nfl 94, maximim carnage, tecmo bowl 3, vapor trail, rocket knight adv., royal rumble, zombies ate my neighbor's, xmen, xmen 2, paperboy, jammit, madden 93, ms pac man, sonic spinball, sonic and knuckles, ahh real monster's, fun n games. 6 or seven controllerss. and I just picked up the sega model 1 "high def graphics" model rev1. I'm soo lucky. Now I have 3 systems that I grew up with nes, genesis and snes. I think I will be playing sega for a while. Man I miss sonic on a genesis instead of a wii controller or a ps3, xbox dlc. It feels right ro use a genesis controller. I may have to call out from work tomorrow :D lol

Awesome man! The Genesis will always hold a place in my heart as it was the first retro console I sought out myself. You should definitely look for Thunderforce III and Contra: Hard Corps, as they are a couple of my favorite games.

Good list, definitely SOR2 :D

I'd also recommend some of the Disney platformers as well (Castle of Illusion, Aladdin, Quackshot), those have always been some of my favorites.

Genesis was my second retro console, but I think it's a great place for a new retro gamer to start. The cheapness of the system, the accessories, and the games makes collecting easy (as opposed to Nintendo collecting); plus the games themselves are typically simple enough for a "noob" to get into.

Great games your brother started you off with. Ah i remember my first Genesis more importantly how i obtained it. I was cool 15 yo when i made my first "out of someones trunk" at the back alley purchase...To make a long story short...lol...
