Re: Video Game "Finds of the Day"
Figured it was the last day of the year I might as well hit up a few thrift stores.
Had some decent finds:
Sega Genesis Model 1 (HDG) with Model 2 CD w/controllers, Lethal Enforcers II CD (complete), Tommy Lasorda Baseball, and Head On Soccer - $5
Also found a handful of japanese PS1 games, some I couldn't decipher what they were but I think mostly sports / wrestling games. I picked out the ones that didn't look like sport games, paid $1.50 each disc only:
FinalRound
Zero Divide
Jumping Flash!
Digical League (not sure if that is the correct title?)
Critical Blow
Picked up some saturn sports games in great condition, mostly bought them for their cases mainly as it is very hard to find nice ones these days! Got two, Paid $3 each.
Found some newish thrift store with some cool old toys, 80's GI Joes and Starwars figures. A few ok games, person didn't really know prices so just quoted stuff based on other items near them.
Kid Klown in Crazy Chase - $1
Elebits: The Adventures of Kai and Zero (complete) - $2

Also made my pre-order for Xenoblade (

Re: Video Game "Finds of the Day"
hi michi! I did the same too!
These are the last finds of the year for me.
At gamestop I also preordered Xenoblade.
yeah I am gonna shell out 50 bucks for a game!
Tactics Ogre Let Us Cling Together also for $10 new
and Parasite Eve 3rd Birthday for $8.09 used.
Found some of anime too. Flemarket got Ergo Proxy vol 1 for $2.00
At an FYE thats closing I got both complete economized collections of Last Exile and Samurai Champloo new for about $58 with taxes.
A little too high for my (cheap-ass) tastes but I didnt really buy anything for myself this holiday season.
Really enjoying Last Exile right now though.

Re: Video Game "Finds of the Day"
I think that this thread should have a new year's resolution: people will only post finds that are actually bargains or rarities that can't just be found by anyone with a web connection or a local Gamestop/Best Buy/etc.
ACTIVE DEALS go here: http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=47
Two reasons for the suggested resolution: A) exposure in the deals forum will let other people get in on the action when possible and B) I have almost started to hate coming to this thread just to spend half my time reading what people picked up at Gamestop for their regular/current sale price or ordered online from Amazon, etc. We also have a Games Acquired thread where you can list more standard purchases.
I guess in the end we can debate what a "find" is all day, but in my mind it should be something that you actually found after a lot of looking (e.g. some personal holy grail), stumbled upon for an amazing price (e.g. at a yard sale), or otherwise were quite taken aback by or proud to discover.
Anyway, food for thought...

i think once yard sale season picks up we'll see more of that. wintertime, historically, is full of online deals and the like if you read the history of the thread.

Re: Video Game "Finds of the Day"
yeah, but even then there's a difference between finding an exceptional bundle or snagging an item in limited supply and purchasing something that's available to everyone for pretty much the same price everywhere.aaron wrote:i think once yard sale season picks up we'll see more of that. wintertime, historically, is full of online deals and the like if you read the history of the thread.
As an example, if you snagged Radiant Silvergun for the Saturn for under $100 on eBay, that's a cool find. If you bought it for $5 on XBLA during a sale, that's not. If you found a copy of Super Mario Sunshine for $1 at the local Pawn Shop, cool. If you got it for ~$5 in GameStop's B2G2 sale, that's not. If you snagged a lightning deal item or a marketplace bargain on Amazon, that's great - share it. If you bought a game that's been discounted to basically the same price across the web of late, then don't bother.
I guess the point of the thread, to me, has always been "check out this cool thing that i was fortunate enough to pick up/discover" not "check out this cool thing that you can go get for the same price". The latter belongs in the deals sub forum.
Or, maybe I'm just a grumpy old fart.

Re: Video Game "Finds of the Day"
I think Dsheinem's suggestion is on point. There's nothing newsworthy about buying a gob-smackingly common game at, or above, the prevailing market price.
This thread is for acquisitions that are rare, unusual, or significantly below market. If it isn't any of the above, it belongs on a different thread. Hence the title "Finds of the Day," not "Finds Available by Searching on Ebay or Driving to Gamestop."

Re: Video Game "Finds of the Day"
I do not think it matters if what is perceived to be a common game or one at not a great price. Maybe someone might not know of a game and made aware on this Thread. I don't care if a common game, I just like reading and posting about gaming. Hats off to anyone who posts any find and throws in a few words about it. Part of the interest to me is how the game was obtained.
