R7 DC

Post by D.D.D. »

So I saw one for $70 today. I already have 3 DCs (1 US, 1 JP, and 1 JP modded) so other than for the sake of collecting, is there anything that makes this one truly worth it?

I bought a new one a while back. It does not have the broadband adapter, even though people seem to think it does (and driving up the price!). There is an extra special edition which comes with a black BBA and some little trinkets (keychain, pins) all in a separate box...this edition is extremely rare.

The regular R7 comes in a sweet black box. Obviously the console and controller look great, especially with the gold R7 logo. The contents of the box is the same as a normal JP DC except for a black manual, a black R7 disc which is somehow related to pachinko machines (I have kept that disc sealed so I'm not sure), and the latest browser (Dream Passport 3?).

I'm pretty sure those are the contents (based on my memory); if you want I can get the box out of my basement and give you an exact detailed description when I get home later today.

Other than for collecting and enjoying, I see no other real reason to own one. I love mine because it is special. As I said, I bought it new but I decided to enjoy it and I use it as my primary DC.

70 dollars is a great price, I think. Depending on the condition of the console and box, it may even be a really great price. I've seen good used ones go for around 150. I'd say go for it, especially if you saw it in a store and you don't have to pay shipping.

Thanks for the info on the R7. It definately sounds cool as a collectors item but, I think I have enough DCs right now.

If I was in your position I'd buy and resell, but you know, up to you.

Dat true. Then again, it isn't complete. It was the console, 1x R7 controller, av + power cord. I didn't see if it had a VMU or not. How much you think I'd get for it?

Hmmm...I don't know. I don't think I've seen one sold without the box. Are there scratches on it? Is it possible to confirm if it even works? Seventy bucks still seems like a sweet deal. Surely someone will buy it for more than that.

I am a poor judge of what people buy though, since I never sell my stuff...I only know what I would pay for it. And eBay is crazy...new R7s go anywhere between 200-400 or even less in my case. You might get lucky with selling a used one.

It was pristine but box-less. Stores in Japan don't sell stuff w/o testing it to see if it at least boots a game, at least good stores don't.
I just checked on ebay and they're going for $190 to $240 now. I guess I'll let this one go~ ;)
