All the items the robot can get must be identified for you to start the quest before you go fetch them once you acquire the robot. Even if you by chance talk them earlier and know exactly where that is just going to that item won't do anything.

Remember the robot is AI, it has no idea where to go if you don't talk to the person that it needs to take the item to prior to trying to get it.

I had already talked to the person, it's how I knew what the item was and where to take it. Someone in the town mentioned the guy who lost the Party Hat, and the Party Hat Man whined about losing it when I approached him.

I just hadn't followed Nintendo's script and talked to the person after I gained access to the Party Hat Retriever Robot. If Nintendo wanted the script to be followed so closely, they shouldn't have even triggered the related text from the townsfolk and the Party Hat Man until after the Robot was acquired.

with all the functional and entertaining systems in place, i'd be willing to let that slide

My complaint is that it breaks the immersion and reminds me that I am just playing a game.

Halfway through Skyview temple, got the beetle. Cutting down skulltullas with this thing to leave them defenseless is so satisfying.

So I got this for Christmas and am really enjoying it thus far. Fi was annoying as hell for a while but that kind of died down. Flying around and exploring islands is fun and I enjoy it more than I enjoyed navigating with the boat in other games, and I feel like there's tons to find/explore. The dungeons seem a tad easier/quicker than previous Zelda games though and that's a little disappointing. Just finished the watery temple (ancient cistern) and am hoping for a little more mind-bending puzzles coming up. I feel like I'm casually strolling through the temples so far.

I just noticed the update for Skyward Sword on the Wii Shop channel. That's a first, right?

What is the update for? I assume it is to fix the issue with getting the songs out of order.

There have been other wii games that have been patched, but this is a first for nintendo I beleive. According to wiki you could previously sent your knackered save file to them and they would fix it. This is pretty decent of them, I imagine that people who fell foul of the bug would be pretty pissed off since it happens so far into the game.

Apparently the bug can keep you from finishing the game.
