SNES models - SNS-001 and SNS-101

Post by glynnahab »

Woo-hoo! Look what I got from craigslist today for $100!

SNES console - SNS 101 model minus controllers and hookups

Castlevania IV
Super Godzilla
Legend
Super Metroid
Street Fighter II Turbo
Drakkhen
Spiderman X-Men
The Legend of Zelda
Maximum Carnage
Super Mario RPG
Donkey Kong
Batman Returns
Wizardry V
Knights of the Round
Starfox
Killer Instinct
Contra III
Wario’s Woods
Super Mario World
Zombies ate my neighbors
Graduis
Super Empire Strikes back
Super Mario All Stars

Since I already have the older-style SNES, I was wondering if there's any difference aside from the appearance of the two consoles. The 101 is in great condition, but I don't have the correct cables to run it and I'm not sure if it works. (101 model doesn't have an RF-out port, and I don't have the multi-out cable.) My original (SNS-001) lacks the great look, but it works perfectly and it's the same one I saved up for as a kid. Therefore, it's got the obligatory wear and tear along with that ugly yellow stain. Assuming that the 101 works, is there any reason I should keep my original 001 aside from nostalgia?

Thats awsome. Great deal.

I personally like the later model, but it doesn't have the sweet eject button and i don't think it supports s-video. You can just use a N64 or Gamecube cable for an rca out, you can get then at most game stores.

I think the lack of S-video is a killer problem. I love my SNES w/ S-video.

S-Video

This may be a stupid question, but do I need to get a special cable for my SNES in order to use a S-video hookup?

For a model 001 use a gamecube rca/s-video cable. Unfortunately there is no s-video compatability for the 101 model.
