Well.. despite the fact that I dislike Axl Rose as well, he's not a Nationalist and Murderer who also planned to blow up a peaceful commune. I'm not saying that I don't enjoy the music he creates on an artistic level, but it's scary when you find you appreciate something that comes from someone so despicable.Rurouni_Fencer wrote:I absolutely despise Axel Rose. Sometimes you just need to put aside your particular hate for one man to enjoy art..
...even if that one man is completely responsible for the decline of a genre. Imagine if Euronymous were still around.
To me it's like saying "dude, I love Hitler's last album so much!" I also suppose that the tension he creates is appealing. There are plenty of artists I really enjoy that I also think are douche-bags as people. Like... why would I listen to white power hardcore punk? I listen to hardcore because a great deal of it "rejects" that particular ideal and I sympathize with that. Hardcore has plenty of aspects I don't like about it as well, but what I guess I'm getting at here is that there is some cognitive dissonance.
I completely get your point and I'm able to do that with a lot of artists, but I guess I feel that way because of "the media". Ironic isn't it?
