That was a good last grand prix. You are really hard to beat. I think you were purposely picking courses that my kart setup was bad at. Also, you are very good with trying to catch me in your blue shell blast radius.
That last grand prix was friggin excellent. You were tenaciously challenging the whole way through. It was awesome!! There were many occasions where I got screwed over in the very last second because EVERYONE hit me with hard things. But this is a Mario Kart game after all.
I remember in MK DS, there was a very specific way to power slide boost out of getting hit by a blue shell.
Too bad I missed it, but I've been out of commission all day. This whole wisdom teeth being taken out deal has made me really sick, so I ended up just playing Pushmo all day.
I'll definitely be in on the next one though; I've unlocked some more stuff and I think I might be able to beat Inazuma one on one more now.

Yeah, it's not rare for someone who essentially races perfectly to end up in last place due to the handicap item system. Like you said, that's Mario Kart so it's gonna happen.
As for dodging the blue shell, there is one way that you probably already know of. Use a mushroom boost after the blue shell circles over your head and before it comes down on you. I've never done it myself, but how many chances have I had to pull it off? Only one so far, and I didn't boost at the right time. You are generally better off with red shell blocking items in first place anyway.

How is Pushmo? I've been wanting to buy it, but I was never really much of a puzzle game guy.

Does the mushroom trick work in MK 7? Never got the chance to try it. I know it definitely did in just about every Mario Kart title.
I remember in the GBA Mario Kart, blue shells could be avoided by simply driving at a precisely consistent speed while it stays behind you. It just goes away after about 15 seconds of doing that.
What do you guys think about meeting up at the same time a few times a week? So for example, every Wed and Sun at 9 pm EST, we can get together for Mario Kart.
@scarper
Yes, the mushroom boost trick does work in Mario Kart 7. I saw a Youtube video of someone doing it, and multiple people have claimed to have done it on a different message board. I think someone did it in one of the online races I've had. He was in first place with a mushroom and didn't get hit by the blue shell on my map screen, so I think he may have done it.

I like this meet up idea. Friday's may work best for a lot of people. We should get YoshiEgg to arrange these, since he started the thread.

Sounds good. Also, if you guys wanna do it more or less than twice a week, that's fine too. I just like the idea of having regular gatherings.

Fridays are perfect for me, since I don't tend to do much on Friday nights. If you are looking for another day, I guess Wednesdays or Saturdays should be fine as well.
