Auto Aim on PC?

I've been playing console shooters and was thinking about moving to the PC. Do PC shooters have auto aim? If it does, is it as widespread as console shooters?

Some games do, but for the most part, no, they do not. Also, some games do only when you play with a game pad.

Hard to be sure without asking other gamers... As far as I'm aware most games don't openly say they have auto aim. You'd be lucky to find any official documentation, on-the-record interviews, etc, stating whether a game does. Even on console.

um, most games these days (PC and console) have an "auto-aim on/off" option right on the main options/controls screen....

it is more common on consoles as it compensates for the lack of precision you can accomplish with a mouse.

What DSH said. I've also noticed that a lot of modern games will turn on auto-aim automatically if you're using a gamepad with your PC. (eg. Duke Nukem Forever did this).

I can't recall a single FPS that leaves it on while using the mouse FWIW.

Mouse acceleration is another story, and it's nearly as annoying, although for different reasons.

Half Life has an auto aim option.

I heard of some console shooters like Call of duty that allow you to turn off auto aim/aim assist but it only applies for single player. Everyone playing Call of Duty on consoles have auto aim/aim assist in multiplayer then?

I also noticed that Counter Strike on PC has an auto aim option, but I heard it's permanently disabled in internet matches.

Unreal Tournament 2004 has an auto-aim option.

Just say no to auto aim!

A number of PC games do have it. I always turn it off, even if I do like homing weapons in shmups.
