The guy and his mom had just over 200 PS and PS2 games to sell and I offered to buy the whole lot at a deeply discounted price, but since I was the first to get my grubby hands on them they didn't want to go as low as I was offering. So instead I just pulled out all the goodies. They were selling them on behalf on their brother/son.

They wanted $5 for each game and I ended up paying $100 even for the lot :D
Great finds! Nice price and even better all CIB! Curious what you did not buy.

Bookoff Finds
Another small side Rant :D

I mentioned Bookoff before, anyone who has not visited this store should really take a look. Big in Japan, there are stores in different countries. A Japanese owned Book, Music, Movie and expanding used Video Game selection that carries some great finds! 99% of the used games are CIB. There is a different mentality in the Japanese consumer taking care of their games for trade in. The best part is I can find Japanese releases right here in the U.S.!
CRTGAMER wrote:Why has this not caught on in the U.S.?

Unlike Shrink Wrap, Japanese stores encase their product in plastic cellophane envelopes with built in "3m" tape. The REUSABLE plastic liners protect Books, CDs, Movies and Games. Yes the cellophane envelopes are a tight fit and that 3m tape is a nuisance, but a great way to protect your media. All my cardboard sleeved, tin edition movies and games get the plastic cellophane envelope treatment. 8)

I'm waiting for a certain PS2 The Best release to hit my local Book Off Import store, one of these days I'll get lucky. I am constantly on the lookout at Yellow Best labels and Simple Series Red labels for treasures, found some surprises this way.

Metroid Prime 3 Corruption Guide - $2.00
Does anyone else still use real book guides over Online Guides or Faqs? I sometimes prefer the paper medium as a diversion read. Useful for flipping right to a page for a troublesome level. Bookoff has shelves of used Game Guide books in pristine condition at only two bucks each!

The Metroid Guide came with a poster still attached to its perforated page inside. 8)

PS2 Aero Elite Combat Acamedy - $5.00
I already have this game! When I saw it sitting on the shelf, I knew of all the Dreamcast releases I own; Aero Elite and Aero Dancing series including Aero I, Aero F and the Secret Missions discs. Of note the Dreamcast imports have unique levels that did not get a U.S. cut. With all the releases on the Dreamcast, I could not remember owning the PS2 version, too many games! Ah well, nice to get a second very new condition pristine disc. oops:

Aero Elite / Aero Dancing 4
The fourth game in the series is Aero Elite: Combat Academy. It was only released for the PlayStation 2. The last sequel of the series was also considered the best: quality graphics, very detailed and animated 3D plane models, over 60 planes to fly (including Mig 29, SU27, Mirage2000, Harrier, A10, Tornado, etc), challenging missions and new original features like the "scramble" mode - a random interception mission where a player must take off, intercept an unknown intruder plane, take pictures to identify it, then return to the base and land to finish the mission.
Look at the sticker behind the Bookoff five dollar tag. PS2 games are very inexpensive now, This game was $49.99 new. Unlike the very good condition of used games at Bookoff, most used game store purchases need to be inspected. This brings up another perspective to consider. As a game collector lunatic I think about weird stuff like this. :?

Style game reflects quality of a trade in
Aero Elite has a limited appeal, in this case to a Flight Sim nut who might take better care of a game. Maybe this is the reason why the game I purchased for what looks to be a one time owner due to the original new price tag? Less change of hands due to obscurity increases the chance of brand new condition. Compare this to a more widely appealing game such as a fighter or 3d platformer which may not be as well taken care of. An advantage of which games have a better chance of scratch free and CIB condition vs games that need a more scrutiny in inspection.

Yeah, Book off is great, but there's 1 in NY, a few in HI, then a bunch in CA. And that's it. :?

Huh, news to me. I don't get out to second hand stores much these days, kind of lost interest and I leave a lot of stuff behind that I'd normally buy a year or so ago. So have fun, hope you find some good stuff.

WARvault wrote:Hey guys, this is my first "FotD" post. Bit of back story, so shoom down for tl;dr

My mum has a secondhand DS and much to my FRUSTRATION she refuses to buy herself any games. OTOH last christmas she was given Tinkerbells Adventure or something, so I can see why she'd be skeptical of buying new games... So I have been keeping an eye out for titles she might enjoy. This holiday season a toy clearance store opened in our town and I wondered in looking for RC toys. Half-behind the counter there was two tubs filled with Gameboy Color and GBA games and accessories that never sold back in the day. That day (maybe day 4 of the clearance sale) I walked out with a copy of WarioWare Twisted, with a hologram-ish box in near perfect condition for AU$15. I thought, "they need to clear these out by the time the sale ends...!" Today is the last day! I got Pokemon Ruby Red (PERFECT condition) Doctor Mario & Puzzle League and Kurukuru Kururin, with slightly scuffed edges on the box, for AU$5 each! So for AU$30 I feel like I have bulked out Mum's game collection with 4 solid games and hopefully when she is done she can swap them with one of my mates who are collectors!
(Kurukuru kurukin is the Australian edition, which I THINK is most desirable for its english translation, can anyone confirm?)

tl;dr
AU$15 for WarioWare Twisted 2 weeks ago, AU$5 each for Pokemon Ruby Red, Doctor Mario & Puzzle League, and Kurukuru Kururin
All brand spanking new with only light wear on the box-edges
hey, that is awesome. Would love to stumble across something like that, being a new convert to the GBA. Where in Aus are you located??
