I just snagged a copy for the mega drive and i´m hooked even though it´s very hard and just to get through the levels you must replay it alot to memorize the patterns. But what i like about it is that it reminds how gaming used to be you really had to earn any progress in the game and it gave me a reason to use my old mega drive again
edit
added a link to wikipedia if someone wants to read more about it
I think I remember playing this on the Atari ST, wasnt it the greek themed game that apparently had some crude AI that throws more enemies at you the better you get at killing them? I've not long re-aquired a mega drive and I agree that games back then were made to be punishing, and new games are too soft on us
originally it was an Amiga game, had a neat little song it played at the title screen. I would like to get the Megadrive/Genesis version since my Amiga's and ST's are long gone....

The intro song to Gods is called "Into the Wonderful", and is quite good.
Unfortunately the artist that composed it passed away already (he worked on a bunch of other Amiga games musics, including also Sensible Soccer's music).
