PC-ENGINE PRO DUO RX

Post by Tehtriggerman »

Hi everyone. Long time lurker and veteran gamer. One console (aside from Neo Geo) That intimidated me was the PC-Engine. The games always amazed me but the numerous configs drove me away...So long Story Short I did alot of reading wwhich drove a purchase and Im still a little confused. I got a NIB PRO-DUO RX which I know was the last production of this type (after PC-FX)

My Question is: Since this is the last one..Does it need any addtional cards to run everything? Arcade Cd's..Super Cd's..ETC or can it all do that being that last console run?

I can't answer your question, since I too am looking into this (although Breetai should be along shortly who can), but how much did you pay for it? NIB must have been a pretty penny.

I'm pretty sure this still requires an arcade card.

Right unless you have the Arcade Card Duo, you can't play the Arcade games like Sapphire.

Yep. you nailed it. Right here.
3: The PC Engine DUO consoles can play Arcade CD-ROM2 games if equipped with the Arcade Card DUO.

Yeah the system cards are only for the older systems that had a cd add on like the early US turbo with the cd add on and the PCE with the IFU briefcase unit. They need the extra ram to run cd games. The later systems like the Duos and the super cd rom have built in system cards you could say. The only system cards you would need is arcade cards for only a handful of games.

Yeah the PCE is the coolest system ever, have fun. A couple members over at PCEFX do region mods that will enable your DUO to play US hu cards, thus enabling you to play pretty much everything.
