There are only so many ergonomic shapes so it's not surprising.

That "unused dreamcast controller concept" kinda looks like the UltraRacer 64, but I guess that's not technically Nintendo's fault. haha

OMG CONSPIRACY! *dons tinfoil hat*

Man, have you ever noticed most pistol drips look the same? Shit, mice look generally the same as well! OMG OMG!

Really, we all have the same shaped hands, so things will be designed to fit those hands. Some shapes naturally fit the hand, so many things will end up being designed similarly. Lots of controllers have a general boomerang shape too.

Yeah, technically that's a coffee table based on a controller and not a genuine one but whatever.

There is a large overhead cost producing new components in any manufacturing process. A game controller is made out of several parts, all produced, potentially, by a few different machines.

It makes perfect sense to save money and more importantly time, by re-using machinery and dyes that are already in place producing components that have proven to work. Lazy? Cheap? Maybe. Conspiracy?... ask Mulder.

Yup, after seeing it there I immediately remembered an article I read about that unused DC controller and made this thread.
