Virtua Tennis 2K2 tips?

Post by AmericanMuffin »

I just got this game, and I suck at it. :/ The ball stays in the air and I'm forced to camp at the net to keep the guy from scoring.

hi AmericanMuffin , i started off with VT1 on Dreamcast and was okish at it but a couple of years later i got news that VT2 was going to be released. By chance the Australian Open started 2 weeks before VT2 was out , so i watched carefully at the player Lleyton Hewitt play till he bowed out. I then got the game and i copied his playing style , i trained myself for a while and then played humans. Ive never lost a singles or doubles match i still hold a 100% win ratio.

So in short pick a player watch then play and emulate their game on VT2 , oh yea and practice practice.

checkout my Youtube video of what i play on now , i used to play with a Controller but have switched to this.

Best thing(s) to do --

Play the mini games to get better at the various types of skills/shots available

Set up a practice doubles match, and use the L-R triggers to select the play style of your partner. I like playing close to the net so I always select "Baseline" so the CPU covers the back side. If you need more practice playing from the back, select "Net Play" so the CPU stays and "camps" the net.

Just play the side of the court that your opponent leaves most vulnerable.
eventually you will have him fall and him lobbing really high and you can smash it.
Look on gamefaqs for faqs.

If you really want you can buy a VT2 naomi cabinet for cheaps like 300 euros :o
Keep on playing. Never give up. trash talk your oponents. keep pushing. Stay concentrated.
Play 4 player sessions, becaus you will learn alot there and have fun. Buy beer.
