XSeed is best known for those amazing PSP localizations of things like Ys with the massive Limited Edition boxes. They're a great publisher for us US fans of JPN games. A few of us have compared them (lovingly) to Working Design. The Last Horseman wrote: BTW guys, what has XSeed done? I don't recognize the name.

Re: companies producing best games
XSeed basically picked up where Working Designs left off; by publishing great Japanese games in the US that would have been considered "too risky" otherwise. The Last Horseman wrote:Nintendo is by far the best hardware wise. They make quality games, and are the only company actually dedicated to video games. Micrsoft and Sony have other ways to support themselves, and only use video games for extra cash.
Software wise? I'm personally a fan of Epic, Bethesda, and Valve stateside. There are others I like, but these stick with me. Outside of the US, I like Atlus, Cave, (other various shmup companies, I get those names confused), of course Nintendo, and like I said before some others.
BTW guys, what has XSeed done? I don't recognize the name.

they just happen to hold the license on making the only NFL based football games, nothing wrong with that. It is just like if Bungie held the license on making FPS and they were the only ones allowed to make them or Call of Duty being the only ones allowed to make modern area FPS. Nothing wrong with that at allJmustang1968 wrote:They arent a monopoly. They are a license holder. I miss the days of 8 bit/16 bit sports games when we were getting quality Japanese titles by Jaleco, Tecmo, etc.Jmustang1968 wrote:
I am a big sports gamer, and I do think they make the best sports games... But there arent many others left...
But to answer the original question: Atlus and XSeed!!!!!!!!!!!
As for the original question: 2K, Sega, Bioware.

no it's different. Anyone can make a football game. Just like anyone can make an FPS. But only an NFL licensee can use NFL characters. Just like only the license-holder of CoD is the only one who can use CoD characters in its games.

too bad most people who play football games do so as to use there favorite NFL characters. How often do you see football games sell well that are not based off of the NFL.noiseredux wrote:ATARI800XLfan wrote: they just happen to hold the license on making the only NFL based football games, nothing wrong with that. Thats more of a case of the NFL having a monopoly on football then... There is canadian football, and arena football, and other minor leagues...ATARI800XLfan wrote:too bad most people who play football games do so as to use there favorite NFL characters. The fans make the monopoly as well. If people only bought Halo FPS then would you be saying the same thing?

Yes. but with that other people can actually try making other FPS with the same game mechanics that make it enjoyable to people. I should probably mention that I despise EA sports.
