Yes it did lot from being actual linux computer, which microsoft hates that software. running games faster through the hard drive. Free online activity

The FPS selection could have been bigger. AFAIK, the entire list of good PS2 FPS games consists of Half Life, MOH Frontline, Project Snowblind, and the two Timesplitters games.

I don't much about the FPS genre. But I did like XIII.

That being said there's a ton of Call of Duty games on PS2. A couple James Bond. Killzone. Quake III. And quite a few FPS games I've never heard of. Not that I can vouche for the quality of any of these, but just saying... there's a pretty good pile of games to sort through.

I didnt find Unreal to be too bad either!

The PS2 COd games are lame. I would know, I used to own all of them. The 007 games generally weren't the best stuff out there. Killzone was mediocre. I'll give you Quake III though.

Ok, it looks like PS2 has an ok selection of FPS games. But it does kinda pale in comparison to what the oXbox and PC had to offer in the same genre. Don't get me wrong, however: PS2 is one of my top 3 favorite systems. It rocks in just about every other category of games.

In my opinion, the PS2 is the jack of all trades, but master of none. Whatever it has, better can be found on another system. That's not to say what it has isn't good, just not top of the line.
