I find it funny that you (or someone?) traded your would-be wife for $37 :P

More seriously, only played the Tactics Ogre game "Knight of Lodis" (the GBA one). It is amazing, probably the best tactical jRPG I played so far (I'm not sure if something on the PC, like X-COM or others, those may be better, but it's different enough anyway) - but I haven't played FFT or the other Tactics Ogre games yet.

In all honesty, I was a bigger fan of Final Fantasy Tactics, but probably only because I played it first. Also it gave me the option to move after attacking, which I liked.

FF Tactics was essentially a Tactics Ogre sequel. It was programmed by Quest and follows the Tactics Orge mode of combat, so it's not surprise the combat has some minor updates and revisions.

But those revisions made it harder for me to go back to the original, since I played FFT first.

Now I will say, I did prefer the general lack of translation problems and story issues that occurred in the Tactics Ogre titles.

I remember reading somewhere that the Ogre Series were supposed to be in 7 Parts. I wish Square would revive this series and finish the rest of the story. Can you imagine a strategy of that caliber with all the upgrade graphics and mechanics???? Drool.
