hey all!
my brother recently got a soft-modded original xbox 360 from a friend; i was wondering if anyone knew where i could find a proper tutorial on how to burn games for it. apparently it's not as easy as it used to be when the mod was first done around a year ago; what with stealthing involved or something of that nature; i'm not really familiar.
any info would be great. i'm not sure if you guys would require additional info from me as well, but if you do just say so. google hasn't been that kind to me, it would just make it a lot easier if it was outlined to me without all the high tech mumbo jumbo & vocabulary.
thanks!
anyone know a good tutorial for ripping 360 games?
Re: anyone know a good tutorial for ripping 360 games?
what fw is on it? i would wait till lt 3.0 comes out and then reflash cause you won't be able to play the newer xdg3 games. and when you do flash to 3.0 you won't be able to play old backups.

You can always patch the games back so that they play one your xbox and not have to update the system just can go online then

i'm not familiar with what 'xgd3 games' are? also how would i know what firmware is currently on my console? i didn't perform the mod myself. i talked to my brother again today he was saying the mod was something involving the disc drivestickem wrote:what fw is on it? i would wait till lt 3.0 comes out and then reflash cause you won't be able to play the newer xdg3 games. and when you do flash to 3.0 you won't be able to play old backups.

xgd3 games are gears of war 3 on up. had new anti piracy checks on them. the new dashboard update and silent update last month means a newer custom firmware (lt 3.0) has to be flashed to the drive to play the newer games. the "backups" you already have will have to be reripped, patched, and reburned to work on the newer firmware. chances are you have lt 1.5 or lt 1.6 using a boot disc to load last years games.ac_90 wrote:i'm not familiar with what 'xgd3 games' are? also how would i know what firmware is currently on my console? i didn't perform the mod myself. i talked to my brother again today he was saying the mod was something involving the disc drivestickem wrote:what fw is on it? i would wait till lt 3.0 comes out and then reflash cause you won't be able to play the newer xdg3 games. and when you do flash to 3.0 you won't be able to play old backups.
sounds like you have a lot of research to do. it's not hard to flash your 360 once you do it once,

thanks. the console's firmware hasn't been updated to the new dashboard; would a mod update still be necessary to play these newer games? doesn't really make sense to me yet..wouldn't the games just require an updated method of patching or something before they were put in the console?stickem wrote: xgd3 games are gears of war 3 on up. had new anti piracy checks on them. the new dashboard update and silent update last month means a newer custom firmware (lt 3.0) has to be flashed to the drive to play the newer games. the "backups" you already have will have to be reripped, patched, and reburned to work on the newer firmware. chances are you have lt 1.5 or lt 1.6 using a boot disc to load last years games.

right now the patching program abgx doesn't even recognize these new games. and they also have the dashupdate on the games forcing you to update. it's getting too complicated really. most say you even need a certain liteon dvd burner that you have to flash just to burn the games correctly. xbox-scene.com probably has better answers for you. hopefully your brother has the 360 drive key file saved somewhere or you'll have to redump the drive before flashing again.ac_90 wrote:thanks. the console's firmware hasn't been updated to the new dashboard; would a mod update still be necessary to play these newer games? doesn't really make sense to me yet..wouldn't the games just require an updated method of patching or something before they were put in the console?stickem wrote: xgd3 games are gears of war 3 on up. had new anti piracy checks on them. the new dashboard update and silent update last month means a newer custom firmware (lt 3.0) has to be flashed to the drive to play the newer games. the "backups" you already have will have to be reripped, patched, and reburned to work on the newer firmware. chances are you have lt 1.5 or lt 1.6 using a boot disc to load last years games.
