The only one I played was the GBA version (don't know if there's more than one, in that case it should be the first one) and I can pretty much say that it was the only tactical RPG I liked. I eventually got bored with it, as with most tactical/strategic games, but while it grabbed my attention it was a blast to play.

Was there a US release of Tactics Ogre, the sequel to Ogre Battle?

I have both ogre battle and tactics ogre for the ps1. There are positives and negatives to them compared to the SNES version. However, I think the PS1 versions are better because they are "friendlier" to play and has better graphics.

I don't remember tactics ogre was ever released on SNES in the US, though if it were, it probably got released at the very end of the console. Anyway, I would assume so because the PS1 was a port of the SNES original.

Yes sir! And it's pretty pricey. There is also a re-release of the SNES title on PS1.

I've never owned any of them! I borrowed the SNES title from a friend and I enjoyed it quite a bit, but never got to finish it. So i'm not sure which is really the best. sorry I couldn't help.

Definitely the snes version, I played it to death, it's very addicting, on the downside, it takes forever to make it anywhere near the end of the game, an added bonus about it, i traded 2 ogre battle carts to Funcoland back in the day and got about 150.00. enought for me to buy a sega saturn. niiice.

It depends on how you look at it. If you compare it to ogre battle, it is a pretty good game. But if you compare it to the grid based "tactics" games it seems different.
Thats the thing I always liked about the Ogre series. It was always split between turn based strategy (tactics), and semi real-time strategy (battle).
