Last year I got a snes and built a nice collection and sold it all for xmas gifts for my kids. I hated to do it but it was worth every penny giving my kids a great christmas.
I just got a snes the other day. 15 games or so some good classics and today I went looking around to get some more titles and start thinking about getting contra or castlevania and going thru ebay I'm starting to think I should sell the thing and just keep playing my roms thru my xbox. I love retro and I want to keep the thing but DAMN!!!! Theese games are expensive. For the price of one game like castlevania I can get a really great ps3 title
I know about going thru thrift shops and yard sales but here in mass flea markets are closed and yard sales aren't around and there is only 1 retro game store who price games more than ebay itself.
I love to play all the roms on my xbox but It's not the same. So if I decide to actually keep it, what's the best route to buy snes games? One a week? Once a month? Let me know what my best option is for the snes. Let me add one thing I am on a tight budget with bills,family,kids like most of you that's why im wondering why I should bother. Thanks for reading this.

Since you already have the SNES Roms on the XBox, not a big deal holding off on expensive game carts. Just have an eye open when you see a particular SNES game pop up at a good price. Weekly runs to the Thrift stores might give a surprise at a later date.

Keep it. I love my SNES more then any other system. More then PS3 and my Neo Geo MVS. It is simply the best. Keep it.

Personally I gave up on SNES collecting awhile ago. I'll still keep my system and the absolute classics that I can't let go of (Mega Man, Final Fantasy, and some other obscure favorites), but I recently sold off a big portion of my SNES games. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the library, but it's just not worth it's price in my eyes. The big names commonly go for far too much.
Also, one last thing, collecting SFC carts instead of SNES carts can be significantly cheaper in some cases.

I'd keep it. SNES is legendary, but sadly, the carts on Ebay are WAY overpriced a lot of the times. Took me months to find a decent deal on Super Mario All Stars.

I sold them so my kids can have a great christmas. I got over 500.00 for my games and system last year. Yes I know that I would regret it and I did but seeing my kids get the dsi's last year and a wii made me feel like I was when I got my first nes on christmas in 1988. @OP - given the particulars you laid out, i'd make a list of the titles you want.
Each month post a WTB (want to buy) ad on racket and the title your after. In most cases, racket members sell at 10-15% lower than ebay (sometimes more). Buy one a month.
It isn't a bad idea to have each game priced in regard to what you'd pay (use VGPC, ebay, amazon, and racket sales as a games value barometer). Then, as CRT stated earlier, as you happen upon garage sales and thrift stores in your daily travels, maybe you spot a deal and knock another off the list.
