I preferred CvS1 over CvS2.
It just felt like there was more substance there and, as someone else mentioned, the full sprite back grounds and introductions add to the experience immensely. It does not have as many characters but CvS2 almost felt like it had too many - and none of them were balanced at all.
Of course, this is assuming that you are not yet tired of CvS1. If you want more content from a similar but different game, definitely get CvS2.
Capcom vs. SNK 1 or 2 (Dreamcast)

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

I don't have CvS1 but I have CvS2 for GC and Ps2 and it's one of my favorite fighting games. I wish they'd make a sequel but I doubt it. I've also been looking to score an imported copy of SVC Chaos for ps2 (Only came out in Europe and Japan for Ps2) because I only have the xbox version and that isn't backwards compatible on 360
.
I recommend SVC Chaos as well, it's a bit underrated and is pretty funny. Plus Violent Ken (Evil Ken) is a playable character which is pretty awesome.

I couldn't agree more but CVS PRO is the copy to get.CD AGES wrote:BIG Differerence between 1 and 2 in so many ways! Aesthetically CVS1 has Hi-res pre rendered back drops complete with SNK like intros for each (real cool stuff) CVS2 went with 3D polygon backdrops and ditch the SNK like presentation. Roster wise the first one has 30plus character where as the sequel offers a dozen more fighters from each side for a total of 40 plus. The biggest most major change lies in the games mechanics and fighting engine. CVS controls on a 4 button scheme where as the sequel ditch it for a more traditional 6 button control scheme that street fighter fans are acustomed to. They upped the ante regarding the orginals groove selection system from 2 (SNK, Cap grooves) to an astonishing 6 (3 grooves representing both SNK and Cap previous efforts in fighting games) last but not least, due to fan clamour, CVS1's fixed ration system was dropped for a more versatile "Free ration system" providing players more freedom to assemble their team to their liking. Personally speaking, I love both titles. I say get bothCVS has an incredible presentation and wonderful asthetics with super simple gameplay that can be picked up rather quickly. The sequel lacks the wonderful presentation of the first game but has a more technical gameplay that resembles capcom fighting titles.

Yeah Pro is great! I own em all. A much need rebalance and 2 additional characers are always a plus. I just kinda like the original due to how much time I put into it, both in the arcade and at home trying to unlock all features like EX charaters and additional colors. Pro just has everything unlocked lol!

Re: Capcom vs. SNK 1 or 2 (Dreamcast)
CvS 1 always felt unfinished to me. The control scheme is more DC controller friendly, requiring only 4 buttons. However, CvS2 has so much more going on.
Re: Capcom vs. SNK 1 or 2 (Dreamcast)
I can get two on two matches on CvS1 is there any way to have just single matches?
Re: Capcom vs. SNK 1 or 2 (Dreamcast)
Not for single player at least.
Re: Capcom vs. SNK 1 or 2 (Dreamcast)
Capcom made a huge mistake not releasing CvS2 to the US DC. The first one is great, and the home port is perfect.
