Going Rate for NiB Dreamcast?

Post by Mechblue »

I was wondering what the going rate is on a New in Box dreamcast?

Ebay says one thing but some times people buying there have more money than brains.

From those that collect what might you be willing to pay for a brand new dreamcast?

The one i'm looking at is one of these blue box versions:

I bought one of those two years ago for $75 NiB from Amazon.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Yeah, I've seen a few articles about think geek and amazon listing brand new systems in 2009. Must have been an unopened crate of these systems in some ware house.

Think 99.95 is too much to spend? I've been starting to consider getting it just to have it but I don't know that is too much cash for a system I already have a few of. :?

I got mine NIB in late 2001 for $60 online at EB (the defunct store, not the auction site)

$100 or even $75 is a bit pricey. Honestly, I wouldn't do more than $50 for brand new boxed.

I was gonna say $50 as well, one thing to look out for is I heard stories of people buying "NIB" but they were fakes! cleaned up and made to look like they were new.

I heard that too. Mine was legit but I opened it up and removed the modem to make sure - if you buy a NIB Dreamcast look for wear and tear in places like that or the controller ports.

I think that the $100 range is about what you should pay right now. I do see the price going up in the future, though.

Well I know this one is actually new. And You can get a used DC for a bit under $50 so I'm pretty sure folks would spend a bit more for a new unit. New units on ebay have been selling for $80-150.

So it is tempting but I'm not sure..

I would buy it in a heart beat if I found one for any less than $75 but that just isn't likely. Don't find many NiB game systems out side of a store for less than $100.

What? You can get a used DC for around 20 bucks with controller, vmu, and maybe some games.

Yeah, I know. Locally you can get them for about that. I was usually selling them on ebay a year ago for $40 minus shipping with VMU, controller, and crazy taxi.

I've actually got a bunch of dreamcasts right now to . So I'm not desperate to get one, I just don't have one in its box.
