How is Kingdom Hearts as a My First RPG?
obviously not my first RPG. But I'm thinking of seeing if my wife would want to play KH together. She's never touched an RPG before, but she's a Disney fan. How is the actual RPG as far as an intro to newcomers? Is it easy to get into? Easy to learn if yr not familiar with the genre?

It's very easy to play and get into. It's actually a pretty fun ARPG to be honest, although the Disney stuff was a bit tacky for me. I showed the game to an ex back in the day that wasn't into video games in any way, and she absolutely loved it and ended up beating it and the sequel on her own. So yeah, it can be a good starter RPG for some I would say.

Last RPG I played all the way through - it's a cool one to "watch" and follow with someone else too. I think she'd like it.

Im gonna try out both Kingdom Hearts:Chain of Memories for PS2 and GBA.I collect "Battle Card" type games and I just found out these two happen to be just that

Awesome choice Noise
Re: How is Kingdom Hearts as a My First RPG?
It's probably not a bad first choice. It has disney characters and different disney worlds which are kinda fun although limited in physical space. I would actually really like some full scale Disney worlds to explore. Not too many character stats to worry about if my memory serves correct and you have other AI controlled party members helping you out (I vaguely remember having some sort of control over their fighting style ie aggressive/passive). Can't say the story was any good but the plot was compelling enough to encourage you to progress to the end.
But the fighting in my opinion gets very repetitive. For a new rpger, the repetitive button mashing required to beat up average foes may be the lesser of two evils compared to mashing the attack button in turn based rpgs. At least you can run away from the average foes whereas some other rpgs have the dreaded random battles.
I think FFIX would be a good beginner rpg. It's not particularly difficult and it has charming characters and a nostalgic fantasy setting.

I second FF9. My sister has KH and it's pretty good, easy to learn, but depending on the person the camera issues could get annoying. My first was Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga. Paper Mario would be great too especially if they're into Mario games.
