Thanks for the info. Is there savepoints or is it just at any point? At the end of each level?Gamerforlife wrote:You can save in Guardian Heroes. Astal has to be beaten in one sitting, though there is a code for a level select you can find on the net somewhere. I don't know anything about Shinobi Legions.nateup2 wrote:Can you save on this game... or are there passwords... or do you just have to beat it in one setting (ANNOYING!!)?
I played the game at a friends and enjoyed it, but I don't always have time to sit down and dedicate hours in one setting. Same question about Shinobi Legions and Astal.
Not having a save or password option does not add relevant difficulty... just obnoxiousness. Biggest problem with shmups too. Fuckin retarded that I would EVER have to leave one of my precious vintage systems on pause while I do things that I need to in the outside!

Will this game ever go beyond the expensive original?
I picked this game up in a large eBay auction a while back, and while I haven't had the time to play it through yet, I can tell that it's easily on of the best—very probably THE best—beat 'em up games ever created. With special moves, RPG elements, and multiple planes to fight on, the depth of play is fantastic. The fact that this game hasn't been relreleased (XBOX Live Arcade—as many have already mentioned would be a fine medium) or spawned any sequels boggles my mind.
I run the 8/16-bit retro site TimeWarpGamer and if you want to follow the latest updates, check me out on Twitter.

I haven't played it myself, but it does seem to channel Guardian Heroes for inspiration
And to echo a previous post of mine. Try building up Nicole around her Barrier move and get used to cornering your enemies with it. Fun, fun, fun.
