Ok, that's it. I'm going to pre-order now, for sure.NesimLE wrote:According to gonintendo...not sure how I feel about this if true. On one hand, good on Gamestop for helping to bring us a game we want to play. On the other hand...Nintendo wouldn't publish the game without GS subsidizing it? Would also explain the exclusivity if true.
This rumored information comes from a source that would like to remain anonymous...
- GameStop reached out to Nintendo to get Xenoblade Chronicles released in the states
- GameStop is helping to pay for publishing
- Nintendo is interested in localizing The Last Story as well
- This localization depends on sales of Xenoblade Chronicles preorders/sales
- Xenoblade Chronicles preorders are not doing well thus far

Also, if pre-orders aren't doing well, that wouldn't be a good thing, as we'll be less likely to get games like this localized in the future.

This makes me very sad. Oh well, just put in my preorder for Last Story on Zavvi. $50 shipped seems like a good deal to me.BoringSupreez wrote:Ok, that's it. I just thought about this when I passed by my little copy of Link's Crossbow Training, every time I see a game like it ("pack-ins" I guess, wii sports is a good example) those are listed as "game only" on Gamestop.com and never in a case or (original) sleeve in the stores. So I was just curious if people just bring them in like that or does Gamestop just throw out the sleeve or something? Possibly to make them worth less? Or maybe even worthless? haha

Its the lazy bastards trading them in disc only.harper wrote:I just thought about this when I passed by my little copy of Link's Crossbow Training, every time I see a game like it ("pack-ins" I guess, wii sports is a good example) those are listed as "game only" on Gamestop.com and never in a case or (original) sleeve in the stores. I bought my Crossbow "Game Only" used with the original sleeve for only for two bucks at Gamestop. A better deal since I did not want the plastic crossbow shell. In different regions Crossbow and Wii Sports got an official case.
Gamestop policy is to take any trade in, even if no case or manual. This is good and bad, think of a game that might not be available for purchase if they couldn't be traded in. On the flip side look at all the used games sitting on the shelf in generic cases because of the lazy people trading them in. Honestly, I see so much better quality and care in a different country. Compound the problem with the case toss out policy by Gamestop.

Case toss out policy? I read the thing about them throwing out artwork to "save space" (which makes absolutely no sense) but what the hell? Its the lazy bastards trading them in disc only.

I was buying every Wii Sports I could find back when they were selling for $40 on Ebay. I still have absolutely no idea who the hell was buying all those Wii Sports. I understand it being worth quite a bit since it is one of the better games on the system, but why were they selling instantly? I would list one and it would be gone within minutes.

Re: Is Gamestop Evil? The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
I'm searching for a particular game. I've called 13 EB stores so far with no luck. I have asked several employees if they are able to search inventory at other stores and they say no. Is this really not possible, or are they just not wanting to do the work. I know that when I worked at a retail store, we could search other stores if we manually entered the store numbers and it was a lot of effort. Maybe the system works in a similar way.
On a related note, I decided to call EB/Gamestop customer service to see if they could check regional inventory. The online tool isn't any help because the game I seek isn't listed for whatever reason, despite being a relatively popular game from about a year ago. I go through the prompts on the phone and eventually reach a point where I think I will be connected to a human being. Except instead I get the message "we cannot take your call due to high volume, sorry" and get disconnected! No "we have high call volume so grab a pillow and get comfortable", just straight up "fuck you".
