PC-Engine Japanese CD & SCD Recommendations

Post by PhilExile »

Hello,

I was just curious if anyone out there have any recommendations of Japanese PC-Engine CD & SCD games? I don't know Japanese, so nothing that is text heavy. Anything else goes, however, I'm not too into RPGs.

Thanks in advance.

Well, let's see. I don't know as many regular CDs as I do Super CDs, but here goes. None of these games have US counterparts and should be playable without Japanese.

Regular CDs:

Spriggan - stg
Download 2 - stg
Rayxanber II - stg
Super Darius - stg
Valis IV - action

Super CDs:

Rayxanber III - stg
Advanced VG - ftg
Asuka 120% - ftg
Akumajou Dracula X - action
Chou Aniki - stg
Double Dragon II - beat 'em up - INCREDIBLE port with weird music
Flash Hiders - ftg
Gradius II - stg
Nexzr/Nexzr Special - stg - great shooter, competition for Gate and Lords
Puyo Puyo - puz
Puyo Puyo 2 - puz
R-Type Complete - stg - just like on hucard only with remixed music and cinemas
Renny Blaster - action
Star Parodier - stg - Hudson knock-off of Parodius, making fun of Hudson franchises
Spriggan Mk II - stg
Super Darius 2 - stg
Valis - action

There, that should give you more than enough to do into the distant future :)
