That just means it will be more durable when you throw it against the wall after crashing on the landing for the 537th time.

No super bargains, but I've been hitting up the pawn shops and found:

Tiger-Heli and Solstice NES $17.00

(This place puts crazy prices on their games, They wanted $10.00 each and thats as low as I could get them, should have left Solstice in retrospect, but the label was soooo shiny)

Game Boy Advance, white $19.95, Gradius Advance $6.95, Game Boy Tetris $2.95.

Annnnd, a nice looking Mega Drive 1 with a quickshot controller and cables, $19.95, picked up for a friend who needs one.

2 Game Boy Advance Wireless adaptors $1.85ea.

I should start visiting pawn shops. I usually don't because they feel kind of sketchy to me, maybe I'll stop by some of the local ones in January.

I've only ever had luck once with a cheap Criterion DVD, though I forget to stop at them when I'm out running errands with time to spare.

Original NES carts had 5 screws. These used more or less flathead screws, they just had a centering point in the middle. You can open these carts with a normal small flathead screwdriver. Next came 3 screw carts with the 2 notched tabs on the outside edge. Some of these use the same divot flathead screws. Then they switched to using the security screws in the 3 screw carts. Most NES carts are of the 3 security screw variety.

Some carts are available in 3 and 5 screw variations if they were early ones that had reprint batches.

^ What Hobie said.. 8)
Also, 5-screw carts yield the possibility of finding a famicom -> NES converter inside. Most notable of 5-screw carts to do so are the black-label originals, (Gyromite being the most famous.)
Check out CRT's awesome guide to learn more!
