Saturn game doesn't work after resurface
Re: Saturn game doesn't work after resurface
Live and learn I suppose. Perhaps the vendor who did the resurfacing went to deep on the buffering...

Yeah that's pretty much impossible considering the data's on the label side of the disc. Rest of it is all plastic.CD AGES wrote:Live and learn I suppose. Perhaps the vendor who did the resurfacing went to deep on the buffering...

No. The info is in the plastic. Bumps are made in the plastic to record 0s and 1s. The metal before the label only reflects the laser.AppleQueso wrote:Yeah that's pretty much impossible considering the data's on the label side of the disc. Does that really matter? The bumps are right next to the reflective part anyway.
Point is, you can't destroy the data on the disc just by resurfacing it, short of like, grinding the disc down to absolutely nothing.
Or doing something dumb like trying to resurface the label side.

Re: Saturn game doesn't work after resurface
The same cannot be said for GDR discs or BluRay?
Anywho, if Vlame's game worked (I am to assume) and no longer works after the resurf, what causes it to no longer work?

Re: Saturn game doesn't work after resurface
It did work. The resurfacing took away smaller scratches but made the bigger ones more visible and therefore problematic.
Kinda like on a dirty wall you wouldn't notice graffiti until you clean the wall, now in a way the wall looks worse because the larger problem is showing.

Dunno much about GD-Rom, but Blu Ray actually has the data layer a lot closer to the surface. That's why deep scratches on blu rays are more problematic and dangerous.CD AGES wrote:The same cannot be said for GDR discs or BluRay?

Didn't SONY push people to buy those disc-protectors (a cellophane wrap around a rubber-band) to prevent scratches?AppleQueso wrote:Dunno much about GD-Rom, but Blu Ray actually has the data layer a lot closer to the surface. That's why deep scratches on blu rays are more problematic and dangerous.
My scheduling skills have died of dysentery; I hope to visit at least on a monthly basis.
Still, don't forget to tip your waitress.

Lol off topic. No others ideas than to resurface it again?
