You serious? My old Athlon XP could do 720p no problem (using CoreAVC)
Try MPC-HC it has a fast multithreaded decoder, although a bit of configuring is required to get optimal results (will assist if it works for you)
There was a time when DVD's needed separate decoder cards Or how about when MPEG add-ons were made for 32-bit machines
I've been converting my DVD collection into AVC, slowly replacing those that would benefit from an HD facelift with BD's. Thankfully I held out this long and avoided Xvid in the process.
I dont code/rip video on my laptop, it takes like 2 hours and my laptop goes crazy hot for that period of time. Its only 3 years old, and no I dont deal with HD files.
I did use MediaInfo on the video file I was speaking about, looks like the video codec it used was CABAC , is that the codec or its the name of some other technical thing?
